Direction to the mountains along the Burmese border where the landscapes are magnificent!
We will start by visiting a tea plantation founded in 1974 by a Chinese family who fled communism in China. Then we will drive along the border at 1500 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views of the mountains and beautiful landscapes on both sides of the border.
You will have the opportunity to taste coffee in an Akha mountain village, where locals grow and produce their coffee for local consumption and sale in cafes in Thailand.
We will have lunch in an Akha restaurant, tasting traditional and authentic cuisine of the Akha tribe.
Next, head to the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Burma, Thailand and Laos meet along the legendary Mekong.
Enjoy a ride on a traditional longtail boat on the Mekong River, then visit a temple in Chiang Saen which offers stunning views of Laos and the Mekong. You will even have the opportunity to be blessed by an old Buddhist monk, if one is available.
We will return to your hotel around 4:30 p.m., after an enriching day full of cultural discoveries and breathtaking landscapes.
